Designing modern products and systems in an innovative, sustainable and competitive way demands the implementation of new paradigms in development organisations. Design is no longer concentrated on a specific phase. It goes beyond aesthetics to cover all functional aspects of a product or a system, thus driving the entire development process. Consequently, more and more actors of the complete product life-cycle have to be integrated in the design process. This creates new challenges for design engineers, as well as for development project managers.
This training program addresses exactly these challenges, and provides answers to the following subjects:

  1. The definition and motivation of integration in design,
  2. the targets of integration, including the product life-cycle,
  3. essential methods of integration, including concurrent engineering and product modelling,
  4. mastering complexity and innovation,
  5. knowledge management for integration,
  6. collaborative integrated design,
  7. selected aspects of integration in design, including sustainable design, risk assessment, safety design, virtual development tools and
  8. techniques, etc.

Assuring quality in automotive has grown to a huge challenge and competition factor driven mainly by the permanent cost pressure in a mass market that is increasingly confronted with the safety criticality of various mechatronic systems and subsystems. The most successful companies have realized the necessity of integrating the development and manufacturing processes significantly more than this is done today even in the most innovative industrial organizations. This training introduces a novel vehicular qualification concept facilitating this integration process for quality and risk management in automotive industry. In particular, this concept integrates the various dimensions of the quality, safety and reliability of automotive products and systems as well as their associated processes in a way that allows quality, reliability, and safety experts from development and manufacturing to collaborate in an integrated manner.

The goal of SafEUr is to develop a europe-wide agreed syllabus and skills set for a Certified Functional Safety Manager with a clear focus on practice. The need for qualified safety personnel is obvious also the need for a commonly agreed skills set for a Functional Safety Manager. As SafEUr is designed as a modular course, a trainee can attend course Units and Elements separately and independently, although it is recommended to attend the entire SafEUr course.

The Valorisation Expert training delivers such best practices required to analyse, define and implement potential valorisation strategies. This includes topics such as

  • understanding the importance concerning valorisation of innovation and EU project results,
  • dissemination (broad and deep dissemination),
  • exploitation (sustainability, value creation and mainstreaming) and
  • valorisation methods (diffusion, communication to potential stakeholders,
  • formal and informal valorisation channels,
  • valorisation tools (cluster building, open innovation etc.) as well as
  • Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
